4th Annual Art Drive For Elementary Students A Huge Success!

On Thursday, December 14, we gathered at The Foggy Goggle to celebrate our annual charity art drive event. Our mission: to gather as many new art supplies for the Grade 6 students at St Joseph McKay Elementary school.

Friends, you are AMAZING!

People came with armloads of stuff and we found our table (and hearts!) were full before the event even officially began at 7pm. Among some of the first to arrive was Calum Johnston of Strange Adventures Comics and Curiosities. He dropped of a tote bag chock-full of comics and learning guides for the kids. We also had anonymous cash donations; and the bag we purchased to store things in literally burst at the seams. We actually needed five bags (and a cab) to get it all home.

On Tuesday, December 19th, E3C steering members Liz Mac and Rob Cameron drove the goodies down to the school where they were received with much excitement by the staff and Principal. The supplies have gone directly to their art classes while the cash has been assigned to their Breakfast Program.

To everyone that made a donation, big or small, we sincerely thank you. To those who could not donate but sent words of love, we thank you. To those who missed this year, we’ll see you next year, and we thank you! You have ensured that at least one child will get the encouragement they need to build a lifelong love of art.

Holding The Door: A Guide to Creative Charity

I used to get really frustrated when I would hold a door open for someone and they wouldn’t say thank you. Or they would cruise right past me without acknowledging me in some way. I mean, after all, I’d held the door open for them. What kind of terrible person wouldn’t say thank you when someone held a door open for them. But then I started to think more and more about why I was holding door open for people and my feelings changed. What I came to realize was that I was holding doors open because I wanted people to say “thank you”. Read More

Another Successful Art Supply Drive!

There’s nothing like the holidays to bring out everyone’s charitable side, and E3C is no exception. Last December we celebrated the season by gathering donations of children’s art supplies, that were donated to St Joseph’s A-McKay school in Halifax. It was so successful, we were happy to repeat the event again this year. Here’s what went down at the Winter Wingding Meetup! Read More
