On Wednesday, September 20th take your sketchbook to the outer limits!
Join other local doodlers, sketchers, illustrators and artists of all skill levels for a night of drawing. This is in celebration of Hal-Con 2017: the biggest, geekiest scifi convention in Atlantic Canada!
Free and open to everyone. Make new art friends. Doodle something new. We’re all coming together to nerd out over our favourite scifi inspirations while we sketch! 19+. Stay the whole night or just drop by to say ‘hi’.
Time to celebrate all your creative accomplishments over the last year with our Show 7 Tell. More details to come. Listen as we take turns showcasing things we’ve learned, creative obstacles we’ve overcome or even just to say ‘thanks’ to someone who helped you on your creative journey.
Different location while we await the reopening of our home, The Foggy Goggle.
Please join us at The Local (2037 Gottingen Street). It will also be Taco Tuesday, 2 tacos for $5! 19+as usual.
Since the March Meetup was cancelled due to stormy weather, we’re holding the same theme again this April! The theme is a light-hearted celebration of our childhood selves. Bring your old drawings, stories, or crafts from your youth to share and have a laugh. Don’t have your own? Bring a child relatives masterpiece!
Note that our regular home, The Foggy Goggle, will be closed to move to their new location so we’re going to get cozy with the fine folks over at Niche Lounge (1505 Barrington Street).
..Face it, you knew that *perfect* stegosaurus drawing would be useful one day, didn’t you?
Who doesn’t like to draw dead animals? Well, over 25 people showed up February 7th to draw our taxidermy still life. Donated by the awesome folks at Plan B Halifax, we set up mood lighting for a variety of animals. A fox, duck, owl, eagle and some sort of lizard gave us their best poses.
Originally to get into the Valentine’s Day spirit, the arrangement was supposed to be romantic in nature. Like most things with art, we didn’t have a set plan on how to achieve this. We didn’t even know what animals we were going to have until an hour before E3C! We settled on ‘love bird’ theme, grabbed the fox and a metal rose. It works, right?
Once they were all safely shuttled into The Foggy Goggle Pub, we set to work assembling the still life. Our very expensive setup required three plastic chip boxes covered by a curtain panel, and two lamps. DIY whenever you can!
All skill levels of drawing and photography were welcomed to come and take in this magnificent sight. We even had a King’s College journalism student write a story on the event.
Dispite the cold, inside the Foggy Goggle artists of all abilities came together to render these critters. It was a fantastic night, and we hope you enjoy some of the drawings created from it. Again, a special thanks to Plan B for once again letting us raid their shop of curiosities to bring Halifax the best in creative events!
Back by popular demand! We’re setting up a beautiful assortment of taxidermy for you to draw, photograph or just enjoy. To get into the Valentine’s Day spirit, the arrangement will have a romantic theme… somehow.
All skill levels of drawing and photography are welcomed to come and take in this magnificent sight. Not much of a drawer or photographer? No problem – you do not need to participate in the still life if you have other creative skills or passion. There will be lots of space to hang out, converse and enjoy the atmosphere. All creative types welcomed.
Please note that the meetup is being held February 7th, one week earlier than usual. We didn’t want love-struck bar patrons to be sidetracked by this glorious arrangement on Valentines Day.
Celebrating Five Years of Creative Community in Halifax!
Can you believe it, we’re turning 5! That’s 1,825 days of being a rocking artist community in Halifax.
Join us at the Foggy Goggle from 7pm ’til late for snacks, prizes, and a whole lot of partying. Even if you haven’t attended an E3C event before, this is a great meetup to see what we’re all about. Bring your friends and show your love for our beautiful creative community.
This month’s Meetup has a festive theme! For a third year we shall be collecting donations for St Joseph A McKay school. This school is in the North End and is home to many less-advantaged children. In light of the recent teacher’s strike, there has never been a more appropriate time to support our schools!
Donations welcome are any (unused) art supplies suitable for children between the ages of 6-11. Think crayolas, coloured pencils, how-to-draw books, paper, etc. In past years these supplies have gone to their art classes as well as their learning centre. We will also be accepting monetary donations to give to the school to use as they see fit.
Fancy dress is encouraged, but not mandatory.
At this month’s Meetup we’ll be having a ball with giant exquisite corpse drawings. Big paper, big imaginations, big fun! Mash together drawings for hilarious results! Never played before? Prepare to be hooked.
Feel free to bring your laptops, sketchbooks, or other creative projects to work on or share with others at the Foggy Goggle.
Aint nothing finer than sitting down to stacks and stacks of art books. Bring along your favourites so that others can pour over them. Art books, coffee table books, instruction books, rare books. Anything that inspires you will surely inspire others.
$2.00 to hang in this makeshift ‘readbrary’. Stay the whole night or just drop by to say ‘hi’. RSVP on Facebook
We Love Our Home
Since 2013, E3C has called The Foggy Goggle home. Without their warm hospitality, excellent service and creative drinks, we wouldn't be the meetup we are today. They are a Halifax treasure.
Monthly Meetup Mayhem
E3C meets once a month at the Foggy Goggle Restaurant & Pub. 7pm until close. See the Events Calendar for the next Meetup theme.
Sponsors: Hang With Us
We welcome creative companies and organizations to sponsor a meetup. Come connect with Halifax's most interdisciplinary collection of artists around.
